A Pair of Arrests Following Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

The assault resulted in the temporary shutdown of the CTA tunnel and the T3 parking area.

An additional two individuals are now in custody in connection with a theft at Heathrow Airport where 21 people were injured by what is thought to be an irritant spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in Lambeth on suspicion of robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was detained on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. They both are still being held, authorities confirmed.

The arrests follow a probe into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the incident, two women were robbed of their luggage upon exiting a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was one of the those hurt in the event. A total of five individuals went to hospital for medical care and were later discharged.

Police arrested a man in his thirties on suspicion of theft and assault close to the location. He has since been released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.

Authorities were called at about 08:10 GMT following reports of a number of people injured by a noxious substance thought to be an irritant spray.

The attack - an event that police said was isolated and not considered an act of terror - resulted in train delays and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the T3 parking facility briefly.
